Towards fulfilment of the national objective of making India self-sufficient in milk production, a small step was taken in March 1975 when Jaipur Zila Dugdh Utpadak Sahakari Sangh Ltd., Jaipur (popularly known as Jaipur Dairy) was registered under the Cooperative Act, 1965 to serve the then Jaipur district.
Initially, the union did not have processing facilities. It started with a modest procurement of 250 liters of milk per day. In 1981, the Jaipur Dairy plant was commissioned. Over the years, Jaipur Dairy has witnessed significant growth in milk procurement, processing, and the production of a wide range of milk and milk products. To ensure quality, Jaipur Dairy has adopted the ISO 22000:2018 Food Safety Management System.

Formation of Dairy Cooperative Societies (DCS).
Procurement of milk through a network of village-level cooperative societies.
Processing and manufacturing of milk and milk products.
Marketing milk and milk products under the "Saras" brand.
